A floor fit for life

Sustainability

In the heart of southern Sweden, nestled in the small town of Nybro, Kährs took its first steps. Today, we stand as a respected flooring company with a legacy dating back to 1857. While time has brought change, our core values remain. With a profound connection to nature, a drive for innovation and an unwavering commitment to sustainability, we promise to always see what's expected of us. And go beyond - even now as we are facing our biggest challenge yet.

Our understanding of sustainability has evolved over the years, from a simple appreciation of nature to a recognition of its urgent importance. We acknowledge the delicate balance of our planet's ecosystems and the pressing threat of climate change. In response, we have embarked on a transformative journey, driven by responsibility, innovation and circular thinking. To us, sustainability is not a trend. It's a must.

Rooted in our Swedish heritage, sustainability is woven into our DNA. We embrace a close relationship with our natural resources and each other, fostering a culture where everyone can thrive. We know there's no overnight perfection, but step by step, we are dedicated to making progress. We confront challenges head-on and push the boundaries of our responsibilities. Offering floors that help make homes and businesses look beautiful, feel comfortable and become healthier for us - and the planet. As we continue our journey, we invite others to join us in shaping a more sustainable future for all.

Measuring The Impact

We're transparent about our progress and the challenges ahead of us.

Inspired By Nature

We source wood responsibly with strict due-diligence, keeping illegal and controversial timber out of our supply chain. The wellbeing of the world’s forests is of great importance to Kährs and we support the responsible forestry development by prioritizing wood that meets the requirements set by FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council® license FSC-C019122) and/or PEFC (Program for Endorsement of Forest Certification license PEFC/05-35-153) chain of custody certification schemes.

Our Commitment To Decarbonisation

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions is critical to addressing the climate crisis. The buildings and construction sector significantly impacts climate change. In line with the United Nation's Paris Agreement, Kährs has made a public commitment, validated by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi), to achieve net zero across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 by 2040, following the GHG protocol. In the near-term that means that by 2030 we will achieve:

  • 100% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in Scope 1 & 2

  • 42% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in Scope 3

People At The Heart

We are deeply committed to upholding corporate ethics and integrity. All individuals should be treated with dignity and respect, and we do not tolerate any behaviour that undermines these values.

Within our own operations we measure health and safety metrics, diversity, gender pay gaps, and employee engagement and satisfaction. All Kährs employees are covered by collective bargaining agreements, and we ensure that both employees and non-employees are paid adequate wages that align with applicable benchmarks.

For workers in our value chain Kährs has established several key policies to ensure the well-being and fair treatment of workers within our value chain.
